Just because something is organic does not mean it’s healthy. This is a common misconception today. It seems advertisements and commercials are focused on making products look like the “healthy” option. Green earthy packaging with the term Organic makes the consumer feel like he/she is choosing something that will be good for their body. Unfortunately just because a bag of chips or cookies is labeled Organic does not mean it’s better for you. Bottom line is processed and packaged food will never be better than the fresh produce alternative. Your body is much happier breaking down foods that are not filled with foreign preservatives. Processed foods force the body’s digestive system to work harder to break down foods that aren’t doing the body good in the first place. It’s like the body must crack a code or solve a puzzle before it can continue digesting the processed food; Not at all the way nature intended.

To reiterate, Processed/Packaged Foods are full of chemically altered preservatives that create a longer shelf-life for the food than originally intended. These additives have been approved safe by the Food Safety authority but have still been found to cause health problems. They usually contain more sugars and salts and are more difficult for the body to break down.

When it comes down to it, the best way to eat healthfully is by listening to your body and choosing the fresh whole options at your local grocery store. Limit your intake of processed foods and notice the difference in the way you feel. Just because it’s Organic doesn’t always mean it’s better.
